Using this toolkit

This toolkit is designed to help local councils engage communities in a constructive conversation about important human rights issues, increase participation, improve service delivery and ensure you meet your obligations under Victoria’s human rights laws.

It sets out a range of tested methods that work together in a particular sequence. Any of the activities can be pulled out and run ‘as a stand alone’ but for maximum impact, the tools are best used together.

Remember that this approach is not the only approach to community engagement on human rights. Numerous other methods of community engagement can be adapted for human rights purposes.
